If it is someone's opinion that a certain feature shouldn't be in OSM,
then of course that's fine. However, it is important to remember that
fundamentally, the wiki documents how we map (is descriptive).
Mappers have been working to add boundary data to the map at least as
far back as 2007, long before you or I established accounts. So, if
there is a guideline in the wiki that is being interpreted to say that
the 2 million boundary tags currently in the database are wrong, then
the only logical conclusion is that what's written on the wiki is
wrong and needs to be changed.
Let's stick to arguments on the merits of the proposed changes and not
appeals to unvoted "rules" and "policies". Forestry boundaries are
already in the map, so arguing for their removal is a waste of time.
The question is how these objects should be tagged now that they're
here. If these objects violate a real rule or policy, they should be
reported to the DWG for removal. Since this hasn't happened, it's
safe to assume that these objects are fine to include in the database.
