Paul, exactly the same applies in the other direction as well: Just
because current key amenity=post_office is defined in the traditional
sense which matches the situation in the UK does not mean it works all
around the world. So please also broaden your own perspective :)

In UK, as far as I understand your messages, the postal services have
strictly different desks than other services (e.g. selling food),
different rules for the staff, different... So in UK they are in fact a
dedicated physical thing, a real shop in the shop, like a small bakery
within a supermarket. Hence, it makes sense to map them as seperate node
in UK - I fully agree with you.

Because often, there is no such thing as a "post office area" in the
kiosk (or whatever), but there is only exactly one counter & person &
till for _all the services_ i.e. newspapers and food and parcels and
mobile vouchers and so on.

I made this more clear in the proposal's text. Please check
https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Proposed_features/shop_as_post-partner
whether now, it would also have become clear for you now, and if not,
please rework it so others do not run into the same misunderstanding.

Most Germans will have a slight smile on their face :) because the word
is more or less antique: There is no such organisational thing any more
since decades but the word is only used for the very few _buildings_
that are still named like that. i.e. the word is used in the sense of a
tourist's sight.

Personally, I would understand this question as a search for any
location working with the brand DHL/DeutschePost and send you to one of
the shops offering a wider range of services by DHL, i.e. at least
parcels and stamps. Could be a small kiosk next to a public transport
stop. Could be a pure Deutsche Post branch with 10 counters. Could be a
laundry.

Greetings, Georg
