we generally do not use the term post office (Postamt) in Germany anymore, ist suggests that it’s a public agency (Amt) which it isn’t for a long time, and even back when it was, we just used to call it “Post” in my lifetime. The term Postamt sounds like 19th/first half of 20th century, we only use it for historical post office buildings.
The German term “Post” in Germany  suggests Deutsche Post, if you went to one of their competitors you’d call them by their brand name.
