I think some proprietary packages do this but I'm not sure if any OSM based
apps actually do?
If a trail system has fingerboards that direct people in a similar way I
can see this being useful: "Turn right at the guidepost (towards XYZ)".
I've lost track of this thread a little though so sorry if I'm just
repeating what others have said.
