If I'm not misunderstanding taginfo*, I'm seeing 94k "guidepost" roles
at https://taginfo.openstreetmap.org/search?q=guidepost#roles , and 2k
"marker" and 1k "route_marker"
https://taginfo.openstreetmap.org/search?q=guidepost#roles . Personally
I've tended to use "marker", since many of the things I'm adding aren't
guideposts in the conventional sense - see for example
https://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/1996318 .
Best Regards,
Andy
* the extra 3 "role=guidepost" at
https://taginfo.openstreetmap.org/search?q=guidepost#roles are a bit
odd, but I suspect it's just a trailing space issue.
