OK, there is the old confusion between highway=path in OSM meaning a
specific type of highway and the common use of hiking path (or trail),
which normally in OSM would be represented as a route relation with
route=hiking. Wikipedia does not use OSM terms in these descriptions.
So my wording was sloppy.
But the essence of my argument is that a hiking path or trail can be
described as trailblazed or waymarked, i.e. the OSM tag tailblazed=* can be
applied to OSM object categories highway and route relation.
