IMHO the ceiling is not optional, maybe the walls can be substituted in exceptional cases by some other delimiting structure (?) but the ceiling probably not.

It should better read: 'A sports hall is a sufficiently large single room, enclosed with a ceiling and typically walls, that is suitable for practicing sports indoor.'
