This makes sense to me. I have used name= for maps a few times too
because I didn't think about it and because JOSM has it in the preset.
But this and the referenced discussions (especially this reply:
https://lists.openstreetmap.org/pipermail/tagging/2021-January/059087.html)
have convinced me so far that some other title tag would be more
appropriate. iD does not have "name" in the preset for maps; and for
information boards in
https://github.com/openstreetmap/id-tagging-schema/issues/64 it was
asked to substitute "name" by "board:title" (without response yet).
