Hi Kyle,

steam to the surface, and funnel it directly into a pipeline.

some also use extremely hot water, e.g. 240°C at 12 bar is used by the
power plant connected to
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Lagoon_(geothermal_spa)

At least not only you but also I did not find one ;) But I found one for
the counterpart (so the borehole to put the cold water down again)
https://taginfo.openstreetmap.org/tags/man_made=injection_well which is
in low frequent use but not officially documented.

Why not proposing specific values for geothermal facilities, e.g.
"man_made=geothermal_well" and "man_made=injection_well"?

The generic & ambiguous value "well" was decided to be deprecated in
favor of specific values like "water_well", see
https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag%3Aman_made%3Dwell - so I expect
the same fate for "bore" which is also generic & ambiguous and uncommon
(only used 40 times).

In contrast, the value "borehole" is quite common (used ~1500 times so
same dimension as oil_well and gas_well according to
https://taginfo.openstreetmap.org/tags/man_made=borehole) and it is not
ambiguous - so just the target/purpose is not named, but that's
sometimes hard to tell, e.g. if drilling is still under way one does not
yet know whether cold water, hot water, steam or just stone will be found.
=> Additionally to man_made=geothermal_well, I would approve
man_made=borehole except someone unveils good reasons not to do :)

Cheers, Georg
