with time, the risk of recreating the previous situation decreases (I 
hope nobody uses mapillary images to add a volatile poi (ex a shop) 5 
years after the shooting)
little by little, keeping a lot of was: or removed: complicates editing 
and maintenance of current objects

once the object has disappeared from the most recent imaging layers, 
there is no longer any advantage to keeping these remnants of the past 
in osm.
however, i never had fun to go and check them one by one, because this 
is not a very interesting activity for me either
