The wiki talk page of the "Names" page is not the place where the OSM 
community decides how to use names though, that's why I believe that a 
discussion - at least - here is warranted.

Had you clearly expressed that you intended to only document customs in 
Punjabi-speaking regions, I would probably not have reverted the edit 
but you have claimed to document a world-wide standard an I think you 
misrepresented that.
