if the “things” are abandoned mines it is quite likely that they are of historical significance.

This said, the tag “historic” is just a keyword to give an idea, historical significance is typically given for these kind of objects, but it is not a requirement for each instance. Wayshrines, to give an example, are not divided between those with historical significance and those without, they all get the historic tag. If the wiki suggests otherwise it should get fixed.
