Hi Marc,

I agree with you in terms of removing crossing=zebra, although it's
probably not in the scope of this proposal.

I do however believe that crossing_ref=* and my proposed
crossing:markings=* are orthogonal. A certain crossing_ref can have
multiple valid marking patterns (but usually can be assumed). At the same
time, in the US you will see zebra stripe markings but these wouldn't be
crossing_ref=zebra ("zebra" is not the "name that is commonly understood in
the region" (as per the wiki)).
