The place of commerce you call an "honesty box" feels like it
just has one small detail that is different in a place. Its not a
new amenity.
There is simply no human or other means to oversee honesty.

Practically its still a store or vending machine or whatever. I
don't think it is even relevant to tag there being oversight or
not to OSM users.
Practically the only users that would use this are the dishonest
ones, I'm afraid.

Some existing tags that are about the results/effects may be
enough.
I'm thinking that payment with cash only is relevant (in the
likely case of there not being a card terminal) and indeed
"automated=no" may be a nice addition (stolen from node
9152824604)

Is there any reason not covered by this that a new amenity would
cover?
