Note that the approved proposal didn't say "type", it said "type of use".

And it didn't have problematic values like "home" or "shop" either.

So this strikes me as an example of wiki descriptivists overriding the 
outcome of a proposal vote and gradually diluting the meaning of a key 
that was originally designed pretty well.

Luckily we already have the door=* key for this distinction.
