[Tagging] Is entrance=main reserved for public buildings?

the tag entrance=main has no implications on the building use, it can be used on any kind of building, it is for the main entrance(s), i.e. the entrance(s) to which you should be routed by default if you do not specify something different.
Many buildings have more than one entrance, even a detached single family home can get the entrance=main tag on the main entrance, why not?
