By now, I did write out a deprecation proposal on the wiki too:
https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Proposed_features/Key:school%3Dentrance#Rationale

I took the liberty to immediately put this in RFC-phase, as it seems
that there is broad consensus on deprecating this issue.

Please, feel free to add comments there.
