It's a good question without a single answer. A political campaign in
the U.S. can last anywhere from a few months to almost two years, or
four years in extreme cases. If the local community (or the campaign
itself) is active and disciplined enough to keep these kinds of POIs
up-to-date, I don't see a major problem with them being mapped. But
mappers should be careful about mapping them from potentially outdated
street-level imagery.
Judging from a nationwide sweep of office=political_party today, the
number of stale campaign offices pales in comparison to the number of
Halloween costume popup stores that have survived long past their
expiration dates. [1] At least it'll be a little easier to keep tabs on
office=political_campaign now.
