Indeed. We don't want to fall into arguments about whether there's actually
a sign in the field somewhere identifying Graham Mountain
https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/357598523 (as far as I know, there
isn't). before we can assign it a name. We don't want to have arguments
about whether The Ramp https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/1086315368 is
"visible enough" in the field as an unofficial trail (it is, if you know
what to look for - there are a lot of crampon scratches in the rock).
Wilderness areas aren't great about signage.
I don't want to argue about whether the ghost town of Forts Ferry
https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/7576529641 "exists" as a location. I've
walked around in there and observed indications that it was once inhabited.
Its name is remembered in https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/5585644.
There's no sign at the June Cemetery
https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/1004177070, no fence around it, and the
trees have grown tall among the tumbled, cracked and mostly illegible
headstones, but I keep the feature out of respect for those who lie there.
Barring obvious vandalism, I'm willing to assume the good will of my fellow
mappers, not to map things that aren't there.
