I thought the common meaning of uncontrolled crossing is a crossing without traffic lights and stop signs. But it is not intuitive for people with english as a second language, I agree.

crossings with traffic lights are not and never have been zebra crossings, regardless of the crossing markings, (which could well be zebra markings, typical case around here). 

So the answer to your question is: fix them.
