Hi Geoffrey,
Your response landed in my spam mail so I'm just seeing it. What you have in Uganda is pretty close to cinema, you could describe it as a cinema that also shows sports events ; ). Aside the sports part "video centres" in Ghana did the same, they are virtually non-existent now.
I think we need to find a consensus on how to tag these places.

Hi Emmanuel,
Thanks for starting this discussion, we also have them in Uganda, but like in Ghana they are not limited to football/soccer, they also show movies, which are translated into the local language :)They have a local name in Kampala called "Kibanda" and it would be the local alternative for a cinema hall :DSo during the weekend they show football games, but also movies when no premier league or champions league is happening.
I think they are more close to amenity=cinema, but a specific tag for them would be great to have.
But also we have bars, that also show football matches.

Hello Emmanuel,
We have these facilities in Ghana too, although they mostly show football matches they sometimes show other popular sports including boxing. I haven't seen any specific tag for these centres on the OSM Wiki and since they are endemic to our region we might need to create a new tag for it. I propose amenity=sports_viewing_centre.
The existing tags that might work in some cases are viewing centres which are pubs. With those you can map them with a combination of amenity=pub/bar + television=yes. This works for pubs that show live matches/sports. In these cases the POI is primarily a pub or bar.
Will be good to know what others think.

Hello everyone,
I trust you are all doing well.
Yesterday, I reached out to the community on the telegram group to request assistance on the appropriate tag for "football viewing centers" in Africa (Kindly see the picture for context:https://drive.google.com/file/d/17wCZuO4SJslKk7NzjKBnkQriOH6uQakk/view?usp=sharing) as there are none yet available on OSM.
It was suggested to share this on the mailing list to explore the possibilities of proposing a suitable tag for it (All ideas are welcomed!).
It will be great if we can discuss an appropriate tag for them. Or if there are already existing tags that we could use , that will also be great, to ensure uniformity.
I look forward to hearing from you all. Thanks!
Regards
