[talk-au] [OSM-talk] bulk loading towns/cities locations

Are you on the talk-au list? I am copying my reply over there.
I have started uploading population centre data for NSW. I have tried as best as I can to remove any duplicates before uploading so as not to add to any existing towns, but I have probably missed a few.
I have done most of southern and western NSW and am starting on Northern NSW. The specification of town size is a bit dodgy as you have seen and may need some adjustment.
I have been uploading by Local Government Area (LGA). I have not touched the ,major cities yet, but I also have data for all suburbs of Canberra, Sydnet and Newcastle. This will more of a problem to merge. Who would like to help? I can provide the full data for a given LGA in an Excel spreadsheet that automatically generated a suitable .osm file for loading into JOSM, or I can just supply the final .osm file.
Let me know which LGA's you are interested in and I will send. Reply to the talk-au list.
