[talk-au] Rural Addresses in WA

Hi,

I spent a few days visiting many rural addresses in mid West WA. I found that many addresses were missing from both Google and OpenStreetMap. I resorted to calling people to get directions and then found when I got back that Landgate is authoritive and works but not license compatible. One thing that is lack is the starting point of roads for rural numbering is not visible on nice maps put out by each LGA like it is in SA. Main Roads has a concept of SLK and an app that seems to correspond nicely.

SLK from Main Roads seems to be license compatible with OpenStreetMap but not terribly useful as the distances don’t quite match with addresses, e.g. 348 instead of 350. I could put the Zero point in OSM but wouldn’t be visible in my favourite apps. Is there any license compatible rural address data for WA? Failing that I could spend some time and put in farmhouses and tracks to them which would at least give one address when you go and then look for the little green sign and figure it out from there.
