I think you forget that you can also do most work in the browser with
prolatch, it's getting every week better. I actually almost never used
JOSM, and I think it's mainly intended for more technical users.
So if you choose a driverless device for less technical people, they
will probably also use prolatch, which make it _REALLY_ easy to start.
You don't need to install something, you just upload your gpx file, and
you or someone else can map it.
