[OSM-talk-be] New list and mapping party.

Peter,
A mapping party basically involves some people gathering at a previously
agreed upon place to do some mapping. From what we've been discussing, we'll
be doing some "post-processing" (drawing the maps in JOSM) on the day itself
too.
As for equipment to bring: you can bring a laptop. The more people doing to
work, the fast it will be. There will be internet, but it's recommended to
get all the applications installed to get started fast. The other material
depends on your personal mapping preferences. I usually map while riding a
bike, but for practical reasons I'll be going on foot for the part. I'll be
bringing my own GPS logger and digital camera since this how I usually do
things. If you don't have either of these yourself, you can still be useful.
Polyglot has been good enough to trace the Yahoo! Imagery. I'll be printing
blank maps or at least make them available for download. You can fill these
in while walking/biking/. around (bring a clipboard and pen!).
We'll divide the area on the day itself depending on how many people
actually show up.
Do note that I've never actually done a mapping party personally, so most of
this is based on guesses and what I've read on the wiki.
Regards,
Dennis a.k.a. Gyrbo
