What you say is that fixing a hole in the street is not the same as
adding a missing name on a map.
That is perfectly true.

What I say is that the same software can be used to report the location
of the hole, the missing name or whatever.
It must, of course, work on different databases and it may need some
modifications, esp. regarding who clears up the reports and how (e.g.
are the warnings generating e-mail or things like that).
Keeping the reports on screen to avoid duplicates and spare people's
time is a key feature.

Or the OpenStreetBug and FixMyStreet software could be merged to cover a
wider scope of applications.
That can be many, like events and not only in Belgium.

Ah. Addition to the main map. I had seen it, clicked it and seen nothing.
It should be Parcourir les notes
<http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Notes> IMHO. I wish they were
showing other hidden data like POIs the same way.

It's not clear to me if Notes uses a different database than OSM, if
what I say of OSB holds for Notes.
It is not clear if "Planned support in other applications
<http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Notes#Planned_support_in_other_applications>"
means that other applications could update the same database as Notes or
if the Notes software is made portable so that they they can update
their own, or both.

In short, congratulations to all who write such applications, I hope
that my 2 €¢ can help generalize their scope and ... I'll let you debug
the documentation ;-)

BTW, I've made this update to this text
<http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Notes#Adding_a_note> and I'll do it
in Russian too. If s.o.can update another language ...

André.
