[OSM-talk-be] your advice please about corrections to tagging instructions

My opinion is to make it as easy as possible for the mapper and to tag the
physical reality. Manpower is the main thing lacking right now and the
easier we make it for the mapper to do the correct thing, the correcter
things will be. I believe in making the right thing easy and the wrong
thing harder.
Also, if the law changes next year, how are we going to be able to verify
everything?

As long as the traffic_sign tag is used correctly everywhere (including all
"under signs"), this whole discussion becomes less relevant. You can make
some overpass queries to automatically find the "wrong" tags and correct
them.

I find it unfortunate that you don't want any discussion since the actual
opinion of the person may be slightly different. You only give two choices
whereas the person may believe a 3rd possibility is better.
For example, I'm tending towards xx=designated where it is a F99x sign and
xx=yes when a sign indicates a additional right that is not normally
present (eg. uitgezonderd .../excepte ...), but this is not consistently
used throughout the poll. For reasons of consistency, would would thus
rather vote for xx=yes.
