Hi,
I discovered by chance that the AWV publishes [1] the maxspeed of all
"gewestwegen" (N-roads and motorways) in Flanders, under the Flemish Open
Data licence.
The dataset is from July this year, and as far as I can see, of pretty good
quality.
If you would use it for edits, make sure the speed limit wasn't updated in
OSM since July!
At first sight, OSM agrees most of the time. But I think there's a lot of
corrections we could do. Have a look yourself here [2]. Playing with the
OSM Speed limits from ITO allows you to spot differences (with a bit of
effort).
I wanted to integrate a Mapillary coverage map to let you check real quick
if there's some pictures available for ground-truthing. But while I did get
it to work stand-alone [3], I didn't find an easy way to integrate both
maps.
If you want your own copy of the data to play with, check the Metadata
link. You can add the WFS to QGIS and download the entire dataset there.
There's some more interesting info in the data, like info about variable
speed limits and lane based speeds.
What I didn't find out yet is why some segments are present several times
with (almost) identical geometry.
