Hello,

I noticed a lot of bus routes had been tagged with operator=OTW in my area.
[1]

The name was unknown to me, so I searched a bit, and it seems the
newly-created company merging the different local “TEC” companies in
Wallonia and operating under the name “TEC”, which the passengers will know:

* From their FAQ: "1 January 2019: TEC became a single legal and accounting
entity. This legal and accounting entity is called the OTW – which stands
for Opérateur de Transport de Wallonie. The brand name remains ‘TEC’." [2]

* From their branding material: "Nous sommes le TEC. C’est ainsi qu’on se
présente à nos clients et c’est ce nom qui nous unit en interne.
L’appellation Opérateur de Transport de Wallonie (OTW) est une appellation
juridico-administrative qui sera utilisée sur les documents officiels." [3]

So, even if it’s technically correct to name the operator “OTW”, their
commercial approach is such that this name will remain unknown to the
passengers. So, it seems “TEC” remains the name to use.

I was then wondering whether operator=OTW + brand=TEC would be the way
forward maybe, but the combination operator + brand yields no result for the
entire country (except a few Dutch train routes coming to Belgium [4]), so
it doesn’t seem the right approach.

So, a question is which name to use for the operator tag ?

And another is what to do with the routes tagged with operator=TEC and those
with operator=OTW, which in fact refer to the same operator but with
different names ? Should they be renamed (be it mechanically or manually) to
have the same operator name ?

Thanks for your thoughts.
