[OSM-talk-be] Mapillary removes login integration with social services (including OSM!)

Dear all,
This time a post in English since this touches a topic above the national level, and my French isn't that good to post an own translation below..
When I wanted to login on Mapillary lately, it showed a new notification: "Google, Facebook and OSM logins are no longer available
If you previously used a social login please use the email associated with that account".
I'm not a big supporter myself of using social media or platform accounts for federated login: if one is hacked, one can login on all the sites supporting it. But what baffled me is that they even removed federated login with OSM, their biggest contributing partner ! And on top, even an account from parent company Facebook is worthless there now !!??
This is a very strange move, and I hope they at least re-consider federated login with OSM sometime in the future, and maybe other partners (Microsoft ? Bing Maps gets their data from Here/ex-Navteq, but integration from Mapillary would be nice as Here maps are incredibly outdated in some areas).
If they come with the reply they discontinued it because of security reasons, that's bullshit. At my company all accounts have been switched to 2-factor authentication with an authenticator app in the last 6 months. Browsers that support SSO (Chrome & Edge, unfortunately Firefox seems stubborn and refuses to support SSO anywhere..) cache the credentials as long as the company policy enforces (at our company, that is once every 30 days, so you need to open your app only 30 days. With the exception if you login from another location as usual, then conditional access policies kick in and you get an additional authenticator request..)
I'm curious what other mappers using Mapillary here have to say on this..
Best regards,
Denis
