Yeah, i looked at this data, and also a .dbf that comes whit the shape
file.  The odd road has a name, (like the Trans-Canada Highway) but
the vast majority has nothing.

This will be an impediment to importing, for sure.  I have maps of
Winnipeg i could get names from, but rural roads would be quite
difficult.

I may well try the Postgres method, we've got a postgres server
running which could be used. (and yeah i know i could run one locally
too).
