[Talk-ca] Aerial drones helps geomatics

Clifford,

     You could put together a very capable hexacopter (1 kg lift, 20 min 
flying time) for about $1500 (see http://www.canadadrones.com/), and 
there are a number of hobby UAVs in the $300 to $1000 range.

     But there are lots of things to consider: regulations 
(http://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/civilaviation/standards/general-recavi-brochures-uav-2270.htm), 
insurance, cameras, image processing, ground control points, training,...

   I wonder if Transport Canada would consider aerial imaging for 
OpenstreetMap "recreation"  (see 
http://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/civilaviation/opssvs/managementservices-referencecentre-documents-600-623-001-972.htm#e4-2).
