[oxoncotswolds] Toucan crossings

Voting works quite well, if it's a tool to closedown an argument that's been
fully aired, and one side just has to have a figleaf for conceding their
view is the minority. It just doesn't work if the subject's not been fully
aired, and the participants aren't interested in finding a
mutually-acceptable solution (which is why a meandering discussion on talk
can actually be quite useful - it flushes out the viewpoints that need to be
taken into account). The real art is pushing those debates to a conclusion.
