Andrew,
As far as I am aware it was never intended to be available for when the
tunnels were closed.

Yes I said I wouldn't go if the meeting on the 15th if was to discuss having
an app in the future. BCC needed to commission it a few weeks ago to get
something built for use while the tunnels are closed. Given the limited
budget it costs more to discuss than build.

Hi all
Thanks Brian. Will be interesting to see how OSM routing compares with the
new Google maps.
Open Mercia people are trying to engage Amey about publishing open data, for
example traffic flows. So far they refer us to
<http://www.amey.co.uk/brumtunnels.aspx>
http://www.amey.co.uk/brumtunnels.aspx
No news as yet from Birmingham City Council about whether they have
commissioned a cycling app with routing using OSM. Would be a great
opportunity to give people some information which helps them try cycling as
an alternative, especially during A38 summer closure.
For those who have not seen the Tunnel closures on a map

Hi Andy
We discussed this previously and agreed that construction wasn't the best
tag so we agreed I think to put a block at each end which would allow the
routing engines to avoid the route. I also suggest that we add Closed 19
July- 2 Sep to the name. I can make sure I do both on both he opening and
closing dates

Personally my feelings is that changes can and should be made as long as
those doing the edits remember to revert back at the end of the process. For
the tunnels we have two choices, either show the tunnel as construction or
just change some access tags.
Andy, I assume you can make the changes only you will know about. Shout if
any assistance is needed.
Cheers
Andy

Andy,
What is the view on updating OSM when temporary things occur, like the
tunnel closures?
It's obviously possible to remove the link, and I've also got locations for
15 new sets of stands, perry barr uni is going to become a park and ride
site etc, but I don't know whether it's something that is actually worth
doing.
Andy
