Well there has been no reply to the changeset comment. I thought that
mass edits of this sort were supposed to be discussed - if it was a bot.
Otherwise, the mapper should have consulted with the original mapper
(me in this case) before changing it. Especially across borders.
Irritatingly, he/it also changed several other cases so I suddenly
noticed all these non-existant quarries all over parts of Bodmin Moor.
To be fair, my original tagging of landuse=surface_mining did suggest
ongoing mining activity.
Some sort of generic "disturbed_ground" tag would seem to fit, with
perhaps a subtag of "surface_mining". But natural and landcover
would then not be available to add scrub, grass, or areas of water
which are all commonly present. So I am hoping that someone will come
up with an idea.
I decided against posting to the tagging list because this seems
to be a distinctive UK feature, although no doubt there are examples
elsewhere. And we speak real^^^^ British English here :-)
