Well, why not?  I also find that whatever words one picks to describe 
something in obvious terms to others is quite likely the one to go with. So,

barrier=entrance_arch

or just

barrier=arch

as it may fit more use cases.

Pedantically not a barrier perhaps - though height and width are a 
factor for some modes of transport. But then neither are gates that are 
usually open.
