[Talk-GB] Import proposal: Global ML Building Footprints for Nottinghamshire, UK

Hi John

If adding buildings I'd kindly ask that you use the OSM UK cadastral
parcels layer to make sure they are accurately positioned. The recent
MapRoulette tasks have made me realise how badly aligned many parts of the
GB data is. It is lots of work realigning roads, many times more work if
someone need to realign buildings too.

As the buildings are from ML on aerial imagery, my guess is that the
positional alignment accuracy may be quite low.

You can also use the OSM UK cadastral parcel layer to split semi-detached
and terraced buildings.

In fact this is exactly what we have done for another open data building
dataset; namely the OS open buildings data. Coming from the OS, this
alternative building dataset is aligned properly.

I can share the link again when back at my laptop if of interest? It comes
as vector tiles so easy to use in iD and JOSM.

Conclusion: I suggest using OSM UK's pre-split OS buildings data instead of
the Global ML data. Happy to help get you up to speed with this.

Thanks
Rob
