I think this is a very useful summary.

Fortunately most plates on substations round here have "S/s" which I expand.

Large well known sewage treatment works will always be called locally
something like "Stoke Bardolph Sewage Farm"
and quite a few will be frequently referenced
<https://www.birdguides.com/sites/europe/britain-ireland/britain/england/berkshire/slough-sewage-farm/>
by birdwatching guides this way too. So this form of name, at least
for larger sites, is well-established, albeit with older "Farm" rather than
"Treatment Works". In DACH countries
the abbreviation "ARA" is used as a word in regular speech, for instance this
one <https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/87706010> near Insel Reichenau,
better
seen on SwissTopo
<https://map.geo.admin.ch/?layers=ch.swisstopo.zeitreihen,ch.swisstopo.swisstlm3d-wanderwege,ch.swisstopo-karto.skitouren&lang=en&topic=ech&bgLayer=ch.swisstopo.pixelkarte-farbe&layers_opacity=1,0.8,0.8&E=2727510.51&N=1282151.51&zoom=7&layers_timestamp=20211231,,&catalogNodes=457,532,687,702&layers_visibility=true,true,false>
(the "name" on OSM is just "water purification works").

At present it may be debatable whether "Treatment" should be part of the
name.
