The difficulty is that the 'name' tag is seen by some as the name 
assigned by the organization and not the name seen on the premises or 
used by the locals.

The 'location element' could be entered using the tag  'branch'.

The 'name' assigned by the organization I'd suggest using the tag 
'official_name' .. usually long and not something local would use down 
the pub.

A render could chose to use the information in a search table
example
Title of amenity/landuse/whatever then list
{name},{branch},{operator},{ref},{official_name}

I would agree that most renders will not bother with anything but the 
name tag hence the problem of various 'names' being used.
