[Talk-GB] Tagging of private parking in gardens

This strikes me as an issue for the renderer to address.
As I understand it:
1. Mappers are correctly mapping (in some cases, at least) the existence of private parking spaces and taging these with "access=private".
2. The fact that Carto is then rendering these with a pale "P" is leading (some) map users to think that they are public parking spaces.
3. The issue lies somewhere between the renderer and the users.

Based on personal experience, I would not tag it in a such a way as to render a "P" on the Standard layer (yes, I know this is tagging for the renderer). I tagged a place once, on my home turf (though not my property) which was a private car park on a private driveway and tagged correctly as such but since this still rendered a pale "P" in an otherwise quiet part of the map, the DWG received a complaint from the resident as non-residents were parking there! At least it shows people do use OSM. However, proceed with caution.

Hi,
There are a couple of private gardens in Edinburgh which are paved over and used for parking. These are mapped as parking=surface, one of which is also tagged access=private. Notes have been added questioning if this is the best tagging, https://www.openstreetmap.org/note/3314288 & https://www.openstreetmap.org/note/3314282
Without wishing to remove detail, it is actually a private parking space, I'm just wondering if there is a better way to represent this without it appearing like a bigger carpark?
Thanks, Donald--
