I had a look at a couple I'd mapped over the Stanton Tunnel and both just
have railway=ventilation_shaft, which seems
rather inadequate.

The rather spectacular shaft outlet (

for the Alrbergstrassentunnel is mapped with man_made=ventilation_shaft (
https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/11402645380) with the associated
building being mapped separately (https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/79643259
).
The George's Dock building which encloses a ventilation shaft for the
Queensway Mersey Tunnel, and provides a tower above it, is just mapped as a
building (https://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/9074112)
