Hi

We've just completed %99.99 of the import of West Bank data collected by JumpStart International. Thanks to Josh Levinger for running the import script.

All that remains is the split of four very long ways, and import. The API has a limit of 2000 nodes per way. We'll make the ways consist of something like 100-500 nodes. Should be done soon.

Now we need help to integrate and disambiguate the pre-existing data. There was some data already in the West Bank, but not so much. There are roads in and out of the West Bank. The duplicates objects need resolving, and the new data needs integration into the road network.

A great aid to this process will be by comparison in JOSM with an old version of the OSM file for the West Bank. User talkat has offered to produce this file using an old version of planet.osm and osmosis. He needs a poly for the boundary of the West Bank -- possibly a little larger. Can someone produce that for him? Actually, I think a simple bbox should do it .. what do you think talkat?

Let me know how this sounds to you all.

Mikel

ps Once we finish this, we have a similar job to do for Gaza. We actually reckon that the current Gaza data can be completely replaced by what has been produced by JumpStart in Gaza itself, using both the imagery and GPS surveying.
