I second your opinion. We may need to rope in people from other parts of
Delhi also, as most of the mappers I can see on map belong to South or
South West
part of Delhi.

The main issue that I see is the availability of GPS recievers. I do not own one
and still looking around as for me it should work for me on Debian. We can
place bulk order once we have say 10-12 people interested.

Also, someone told me that in India one needs to register the GPS receivers
and renew the registration every year. Is it true? It used to happen at a
central research institute where this person was a research scholar a couple
of years back. They used Garmin receivers there.

We can keep mapping whenever we drive or go out anywhere or area
surrounding our habitat.
This will need just a little extra effort for noting down the waypoints.

And once in a while (bi-monthly) we should host mapping parties where
we choose an area
and all of us go out in different directions, the way we did for JNU campus.

Although ILUG-D provided us with the opportunity to be a part of the workshop
and provided the much needed activation energy, IMHO we should strive to
work independently of ILUG-D in the future so that both the
organisations can focus on
their respective goals.
