I have put the Holux through some heavy duty use in Himachal and Kashmir
recently and never had any problems apart from eating batteries. I did not
have a high capacity rechargeable battery at hand, so had to buy alkalines
throughout. A duracell lasts for about 6-8 hours, and i roughly used 3 cells
every 2 days. Havent tried it with rechargeables yet.
I have been using the Geko201 from the OSM foundation till now, and it has
been pretty lousy in terms of trace accuracy and signal reception. Compared
to that the M241 has been far superior, i could get a fix inside moving
trains and buses within a minute without even needing to keep it next to the
window.
Only on a couple of ocaissions in Himachal i did not get a fix for around 20
mins. I never found out the reason, but i'm guessing the only available
satellites where behind the mountains.
