Hi Deepthi Patric,
As far as i know, elevation contours can be extracted from openly
available data sets from ASTER / SRTM / ALOS satellite imagery services.
Each one has different spatial resolution and elevation accuracy
depending upon the measurement (remote sensing) technology.
Do take a look at : https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Relief_maps
Geomorphometry and hydrological analysis depend upon the Digital
Elevation Models derived from such preprocessed data sets.
