Okay, I've decided to start small, I'm going to work through my current location in the western suburbs of Mumbai and try to setup major POIs first then move to minor ones. When I've gained enough experience and consequently skill, I'll return to mapping my native place again, I'll have to travel 5 hours a day for that, but it'll be fun going there 5~6 days a week and meeting my relatives and childhood buddies on a regular basis, I just might end-up re-establishing my roots out there.

Would someone please point me to a page which outlines the instructions to get started-off in a simple manner, it's been over 4 years and I've forgotten most of what was required. Also, what's the bare minimum equipment and software required? Would an Android-based smartphone with some OSM-related application do the job? Else, please suggest/recommend.

Thank you.
