Which bit was dodgy? :) It was all a bit messy in the beginning. At
least what is displaying now on informationhighway looks reasonable...
Mind you, I didn't touch it after midday and I can't remember exactly
what I did.

Lots? I don't remember more than two duplicate lines/ways. Though
maybe you got to them first. The thing is it's very hard to stop it,
especially considering that when you download it doesn't necessarily
catch conflicts (I assumed the system was more intelligent than it is.
It's in fact very very stupid).
The thing is that if you download, you get all the new segments added
by other people, but it doesn't remove the segments deleted by other
people. So you might be seeing what looks like duplicate ways, whereas
if you actually do a full new download it would look fine.
What I did was basically only make a few changes, upload, restart and
download again to pick up any changes other people might have made. I
tried to stay away from the grachten, fixing up other stuff (mainly
direction arrow problems).

Anywhere where the roads physically connect, they should connect in
OSM also. I noticed it as well in some places. I was going to comment
on it also, when you add a new road that intersects with another road,
you have to use the "Insert Point" tool in JOSM to add a node to the
other way. It's not good enough to make a new point ontop of the
other, it actually has to be in it.

Yes, we must organise the next one...
Have a nice day,
