Based on what other OSM communities have done around the world, I don't
think it's correct either.
I'm from the UK, and there the general approach is what Andrew is
suggesting here, but although fairly common that's far from universal
(hence my comment along those lines 5 days ago).

... or something else that works for the local OSM community, although
"/" is the most common where that approach is taken. On some OSM list
somewhere there's a detailed message explaining why in Belgium the
separator has to be "-" and not "/", but I think they're the exception.
