By this statement, I assume you are referring to the GNS data.

In some cases, imports can be very useful.

After importing several data into OSM, I am now more on the "no
imports" camp too.  However, I'd rather initiate meetings with the
Marikina government to arrange imports of housenumbers than collecting
them all by myself.
