That makes perfect sense, Eugene. I wonder if nat_ref is treated like ref, or
ignored by most mapping software. Maybe a test is in order. The idea here is
that we can preserve the current information in the ref tags without actually
displaying them, as they don't mean anything to people (at this point of time
at least), so we'd have to store them in a tag that is not being used by
renderers today.
